Cecelia Haines Boardman, M.D.

Dr. Boardman"I like working at MCV because of the team approach we take towards cancer care. It is incredibly important to me to be able to offer cancer patients the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and the availability of cutting edge treatments such as intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). It is only through clinical research that we will be able to advance the standard of gynecologic cancer care in this country."

Dr. Boardman was born and raised outside of Philadelphia, PA. She received her BS cum laude in Chemistry from Yale University and then her MD from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and then completed a one year research postdoctoral fellowship at the Magee-Womens Research Institute. Dr. Boardman then completed a Gynecologic Oncology fellowship at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN before joining the faculty at VCU Health System. She is active in translational and clinical research at Massey Cancer Center and she serves as the principal investigator for MCV's MBCCOP affiliation to the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG). Her professional areas of interest include early detection of ovarian cancer, biological therapies for gynecologic cancer, management of advanced and recurrent cervical and endometrial cancer and palliative care. Dr. Boardman is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology and is a fellow of The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and The American College of Surgeons.
