Susan M. Lanni , MD
"The Women’s Health ultrasound unit in
the Nelson clinic is peerless! We have the ability to provide both
genetic services and antenatal fetal surveillance services on an
immediate basis, if needed. Our sonographers have a wealth of experience
in both obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound, and they bring this
to the table. The
medical community at MCV is very completely staffed, and our prenatal
OB patients appreciate the proximity of the specialists that they
or their babies may
need."
A product
of the northern Mid-Atlantic region for her education, Dr. Lanni earned
her undergraduate degree in Biology from St. Bonaventure University
and her doctor of medicine degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.
Her post-graduate OBGYN education was at Penn State University, and
fellowship at the prestigious Women and Infants Hospital of Brown University
in Rhode Island. Currently, she is board certified in both OBGYN and
the subspecialty of Maternal Fetal Medicine. She has coauthored a chapter
on “Malpresentations” in a major obstetric textbook, and
has presented her research numerous times at the Society of Maternal
Fetal Medicine, an international organization of high risk obstetricians. She
has called Richmond her home since 1998, and has professional interests
in prenatal diagnosis with ultrasound, diabetes in pregnancy, red blood
cell alloimmunization, and graduate medical education. She is currently
certified to provide ultrasound based first trimester aneuploidy evaluation
with nuchal translucency measurement.
