Dr.
Seeds was raised in the Pacific Northwest, receiving a B.S. in Zoology
from the University of Washington in Seattle before completing medical
school and receiving his MD degree from the University of Virginia
in Charlottesville. He finished residency training in the U.S.
Navy at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD in
1976. Dr. Seeds left the Navy in 1980 after a tour overseas
to enter fellowship training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine at the
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and remained on the faculty
there until late 1990 when he moved to the University of Arizona
in Tucson as Maternal Fetal Medicine Division Director. In
1994 he came to the Medical College of Virginia as Vice Chair and
later became Chairman of the Department in 1997. He is board
certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Maternal and Fetal
Medicine. He has a special clinical focus in obstetric and
gynecologic ultrasound and fetal diagnosis and treatment and has
authored over a hundred scientific articles, book chapters, editorials,
and three books in his specialty. He remains passionate
about teaching as he had been Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship
Program Director at the University of North Carolina, and Residency
Program Director at the University of Arizona and the Medical College
of Virginia until recently.
