Scott Walsh, PhD
"Virginia is a very beautiful and historic
place to live with its mountains, rivers and ocean. It is not
uncommon to see deer, wild turkeys, blue herons, beaver, osprey
and bald eagles. I love to take visitors to Thomas Jefferson’s
home, Monticello, and to old town Williamsburg to learn about
our nation’s historic roots."
Dr. Walsh is a world recognized
researcher and educator. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from
the University of Wisconsin–Madison in Endocrinology-Reproductive
Physiology. He is a member of the honor societies of Phi Kappa
Phi and Sigma Xi and is listed in Who’s Who in the World
and Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. Dr. Walsh is a
recipient of grants from the National Institutes of Health and
American Heart Association, and he has served on NIH study sections.
His research interests
are in the area of hypertension in pregnancy (preeclampsia).
Dr. Walsh is a tenured
professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he
holds a joint appointment in the Department of Physiology.
